Thoughts on being a godmother

On May 1st I was honored to stand before my faith community and enter into a new role... god-mother. Be still my heart :)

Sasha is one of my best friends. Her and her wonderful husband had their 4th precious one on October 7th last year. My heart was captivated by this little one's life from the time Sasha told me she was pregnant. As Mason grew my heart grew for him (we didn't know his sex until he was born). Around month 5 of Sasha's pregnancy I came to the Lord in prayer and asked, "Father, I really want to be this child's godmother!!!" I asked God but never told Sasha.

When Mason turned 5 months old Sasha mentioned to me that they wanted to get Mason baptized. Oooo my heart leapt with joy! (Ok God remember my prayer? Now's the time!) But that conversation turned out to be a very hard one. Sasha was struggling with asking me because I will be moving across the world in one short year. She struggled because around the same time I secretly prayed God was impressing on her heart that I would be Mason's godmother. Long before my life path would land me in Italy.

It took another two months for them to decided to ask me. It was a funny conversation. Sasha asked me and I started to cry! When she asked me why I was crying I told her about my prayer. God is so good!

May 1st has always been my favorite day but now it has a whole new meaning. Now May 1st will be a day to celebrate Mason's baptism and as he grows up and grows in his faith I will be there cheering him on (even if I'm living on a different continent!).

Mason,

I love you with all my heart! You are so precious to the Lord, to me and to your beautiful family. You are one extremely loved blessing. May you grow to know Jesus as your best friend, your Savior and Lord, your protector, your guide, and your life source. You are now and forever in my prayers, little man. My heart grew the day you were born and I am so thankful for that!

I love you,
"Miss" Nicole
