Traveling Days

I made it to Albertville!  As traveling goes, everything went really well.  God granted each prayer above and beyond what I could have imagined!

On Wednesday I stood in the airport with many friends surrounding me, covering me in prayer.  One of the precious prayers prayed a couple of times is that God would take away any and all fear.  HE DID!!!  I really noticed it as I boarded the plane in Chicago to go to London.  I had no fear.  It was wonderful!

The plane ride to London was just over 7 hours.  I was able to get a little rest here and there.  I'm not good at sleeping sitting up and surrounded by some many people ;)  The flight didn't seem too long but my body was feeling it by the end.

The hardest part of traveling was at the London airport.  Heathrow Airport is really big, like huge!  I really wish I would have taped how crazy it was trying to get to my gate to depart.  It included over 40 minutes of walking, a bus, and a gate posting 30 minutes before the flight left!  I was very glad to get out of London.

We left London late so I was 45 minutes late getting to my taxi.  But thankfully the Lyon Airport is much smaller and customs only took a few minutes to get through - to get my visa checked and passport stamped.  The wait for my luggage was a bit stressful.  I was standing by the luggage station waiting and just prayed and prayed and prayed.  Just let them be here, please Lord!!!  Sure enough, there they all were!  I could have jumped up and down :)  I loaded up all my bags and made haste to the door and just on the other side was my taxi driver holding a sign with my name!  What an amazing sight to see.

Sebastian (taxi driver) and I loaded up the van and headed out on our 175km (109 miles) journey.  It was an interesting and quiet ride as Sebastian did not speak English!  He was very kind though and it was nice to just sit and stare mindlessly out the window.  It was dark out as we drove so I couldn't see the landscape but it seemed pretty.  Our journey included 2 tunnels so I knew we were for sure in the mountains!

We arrived at the school on Thursday at 8:00 pm - about 30 hours after taking off in Omaha!  English speaking students greeted me at the door (I could have kissed them) and helped me with my luggage.  I was exhausted but knew I needed to stay up for a little bit longer.  So, my first evening consisted of skyping with my parents, a short tour of the dorms, talking with 3 of the students for a bit, unloading all my luggage and setting up my room.

When my head hit the pillow I was out!  The Lord got me through and blessed me with great sleep!
