Adventure at Château de Miolans!

I love castels.  They are so cool and big and beautiful and full of stories!  There is a château about 25 minutes from Albertville (well actually there are châteaus everywhere around here!).  The Château de Miolans is a beautiful castel tucked up in the mountains and you can tour it's remains.  This is the first castel I have been to that is really more like ancient ruins.  

It was fun to go room to room and imagine the history of this place.  The people the rooms housed.  The events that took place.  Some of the rooms had an eerie feeling to them... but that makes sense as who knows what happened in some of these rooms! 

After many years the château was converted into a prison.  That is a common trend - to turn old castels into prisons.  There are no real remnits of it being a prison, except a few carvings left behind by prisoners in some of the rooms.

The kiddos loved running around exploring the castel!  What an adventure!
