Last weekend I spent some time down in Kansas City with my team. We had no agenda, just spend time together. The four days were spent getting know each other better, sharing meals, talking about the unknown future and having fun. The weekend was really low key which made me realize just how busy my everyday life is... I didn't know what to do with myself or how to do nothing (and not feel lazy). It was good for me! We also ended up having some interesting experiences together!
Until something happens you never know how you will react as a team in the face of crisis. Well I think we are off to a good start. One night we were there we went to see a KC Royals game (side note - we sat on the 3rd base side in left field so I was able to admire Mr. Alex Gordon for the evening :) ) As we were leaving we came upon a couple who were fighting. Unfortunately to guy chose to make a really bad choice - he assaulted her right in front of us. My first instinct is to jump right in and defend the woman. But instead I allowed the 2 guys on our team to take the lead. We were able to work as a team and do what we could to help the woman. What was the outcome of that experience (other than the guy in handcuffs)? Us girls will be taking self-defense classes before leaving for Rome.
It was good for me to be together with the whole team. I went to a different COP (training) than the rest of my team so that has been hard for me. But now I really feel like a part of the team. We are a group of people with different back-grounds, different life-styles, different ministry ideas, different likes and dislikes but we all LOVE Jesus and want Him known in Rome. No matter what our differences might be we have the most important thing in common and that's what matters most!
At this time there are still many unknowns for me personally and as a team. We are waiting to hear where leadership feels we should live in Rome. Rome is an expensive city and we have to take that into consideration. But I am confident that the Lord will place us exactly where we are supposed to be. Since He already knows each and every person we will minister to - I'll let Him decide that :) We are also waiting to possibly add more people to our team. This excites me. I love our team as is and would be content but if God has more people ordained for our team I'm all for it. Whatever team is going to be most effective in spreading the gospel to the lost in Rome I will embrace!
I would like to invite you to pray. Please pray for me. Please pray for my teammates. Please pray for the people in Rome we will get to know. Please pray for God's sovereign will in each and every part of this journey!
Thank you!
~Nicole
p.s. Pictures to come :)
